Home Learning for Pupils

Here at Strand Primary Academy we are committed to ensuring that all of our children receive the highest quality education, whether that be in school, or through remote learning at home. In the event of a national lockdown or a bubble closure our children will be provided with all the necessary equipment to enable then to access learning at home.

Teachers have been trained and continue to receive training on the most appropriate and engaging ways to develop our remote learning offer. As an Academy and Trust, we understand the difficulties that may be faced by families in these difficult times, which is why we are able to offer devices loans (if needed) to ensure that children have the opportunity to engage with their learning.

Lockdown Support

In the event of a National Lockdown, our children will be expected to participate in 3 sessions every day from home (varying on their age or educational needs). These sessions will involve Zoom, SeeSaw, Sway or Class Dojo (if in foundation stage).

Individual Class timetables have been created and are avaliable through the link below:

Zoom – Zoom meetings will be used to deliver live lessons to children on a daily basis. Children, parents and staff members will agree to our zoom protocols prior to children accessing the live lesson. Live lessons are also delivered via Zoom to our Key worker and Vulnerable children in school.

SeeSaw – SeeSaw is used by children to view work set by the class teacher, send in their own work (either as a photograph or work they have edited online) and to send messages to their class teacher. Every child has their own individual SeeSaw account. The children’s individual logins have been sent to parents via email and a paper copy is also provided in the children’s individual work packs. Once logged in, children will be able to access the Zoom link via their inbox. Zoom links will be available 5 minutes prior to any session starting.

Sway – Children can work through this independently, at their own pace. Teachers will post links to Sways on SeeSaw. Sway is very much like a website. It will allow children to look at images, play videos and listen to audio files recorded by their class teacher.

Class Dojo – In foundation stage parents will still be able to communicate with the Class teachers and Keyworkers through Class Dojo. Parents will be able to share pictures of your child enjoying their home learning activities and Staff members will be able to share any important updates and information with parents.

For support on how to use and access Zoom and SeeSaw, please see the attached users guide below.

Each week a learning Menu will be created of activities for your child to follow. These will be posted on SeeSaw.

Bubble Closure

In the event of a Bubble Closure parents of children within that bubble will be notified over the telephone. A ‘Bubble Closure Alert’ email will the be sent out to all parents. Children will then be collected from school, at a specified time, and will take home all of the equipment they will need to access home learning including: work packs, log in details and IT loan equipment if needed.

A home learning timetable will then be sent to students via SeeSaw and will also be available on the school website.

Children will then log into their individual SeeSaw accounts to complete daily work set by the teacher and also to access zoom links to daily live lessons. Zoom links will be available 5 minutes prior to any session starting.
